R&D Manager Textile Chemicals Division - Oudenaarde

General Purpose of the position

The R&D Manager will develop new leads for future technologies and products within textile chemicals. He/She will be in charge of the Research team. This person will look for new technologies in the market and will assess improvement for existing products by making a thorough analysis of market needs. The R&D Manager will work at the Oudenaarde site.

Reports to the Business Unit Manager TCD

Internal contacts: R&D, Product management, sales, operations

External contacts: clients & suppliers

  • Tasks

Managing a team of R&D Engineers.

Initiating new development and research. Initiating, executing & following-up the research of new products and technologies. Mediating an entrepreneurial mindset in your team and R&D Department.

Developing and improving formulations of e.g. flame-retardant compounds, defining product portfolios.

Managing industrial trials.

Adapting the goals of the R&D department to the needs of the customers. Making an in-depth analysis of the customer needs and initiating a feedback cycle between R&D and customer.

Setting up interaction with the different stakeholders is key to the success of the R&D outcome.


  • Education, knowledge and experience:

Master Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering

Between 5 and 10 years of in-company experience in a similar role or equivalent

Experience in textile chemicals is a must

Good knowledge of English. Knowledge of Dutch is a plus

A passion for R&D and developing new technologies and products

Good networking skills

Communicative people manager who shows initiative

Great analytical skills.
